Last week I finally received my AdSense Mastery videos. First thing that caught my eye was the stamp on the envelope. It cost the author no more than GBP $2.00 to ship it out to Singapore but he charged a whopping USD $14.95 for 1 plastic hard case with 1 CD in it and piece of paper saying thank you for purchasing the AdSense Mastery videos. The cover of the AdSense Mastery videos looks like it was printed on a deskjet printer and it looks really cheap if you ask me. So that’ my 1st impression of the AdSense Mastery videos….. Its looks cheap! Take a look at the pictures below and you’ll get what I mean.

Table of Contents
Here’s my “no nonsense” and “no sucking up” review of the AdSense Mastery videos. I’ll start with the bad side of the AdSense Mastery videos.
10 Videos Only
You only get 10 videos even though there are 14 items listed in the contents. The last 4 are simply links to a HTML page on the CD with some links.
Blog and Ping videos = Rick Butt’s Blog and Ping Videos
Last December I bought a copy of Rick Butt’s Blog and Ping videos for only $23.50. Now its about $97 for the videos but if you know where to look, you should be able to learn how to do this in forums, free blog and ping ebooks and by reading and using the Instant Blog & Ping software ($47.95). What that means if videos 6,7,8,9 are a waste of your money if you already know about blogging and pinging. If you are new to this topic, the videos would be very helpful to understand what it is all about.
The problem is you will need a blog and ping software like Instant Blog & Ping. There isn’t anything “secret” about the blog and ping videos. I thought the author would do something different like use a RSS blogging software but the example in the videos were exactly the same way I blog and ping. So if you’re going to need to purchase a blog and ping software, the videos will be redundant as the software manuals will explain to you how to blog and ping. No offence to the author but I feel you’re paying too much for this blogging and pinging videos that take up about 40% of all the videos in the CD.
Researching Your Keywords
The example in the videos was about a certain topic (I can’t tell you what) that the author came up with. The problem I see with his example is:
There are loads of “Top Paying Keywords Lists” out there claiming that if you use those top paying keywords you will make a ton of money when someone clicks on your ads. The author doesn’t cover anything about this and simply goes on and on about how to create a huge list of keywords about that particular topic and feed the keywords into a page generating software. I feel the title of the video should be “How to build a huge keyword list”.
If you’re interested in learning how to make money with “top paying keywords”, I recommend you purchase the special report How to Make High Paying Keyword Work by William Chardwood for only $14.95. It covers how to determine whether a keyword would be profitable and how to estimate the kind of money you will receive when someone clicks on your ads.
Registering Your Domain Name
This is very basic stuff. Almost anyone can do it by himself without a video tutorial. The only thing special about this example is the use of “non .com” domain that the author recommends to use and where to get it with a “Privacy” option so that no one can tell who is the owner of the domain. I’ve been using web domain privacy services for ages and they are 100% free to use so I don’t see how it makes sense to me to pay $9 per year to protect my privacy if I follow the instructions in the video and purchase my domain name from the domain registrar he recommends.
Getting Links To Your Web Site
I highly doubt anyone would want to exchange links with a “spammy” looking web site generated by page generators. The video on getting links to your site shows a web site that is supposed to announce your web site to lots of news sources. You will get links to your web site when your web site is accepted. I highly doubt a web site like this would be “news worthy” to be published in a press release. I have not tested this so I can’t verify if it works.
The Good Stuff….
I’ve covered all the bad things I can think of about the videos so now for the good stuff!
Creating your web site template
This videos shows how the author builds a really simple web site template using Dreamweaver. You can get a free HTML editor by searching for it at Download.com if you don’t wish to purchase Dreamweaver. The template is so simple to build it looks “fake”. One look at and you will know its a “spammy” and “crappy” page layout. Its good for 100% newbies to building web sites but I will make my web site look neater and unique.
A Real Example of the Web Site
The web site built by the author is real and it is still working today. There are 11 pages indexed by Google, 0 pages indexed by MSN and 286 pages indexed by Yaho at the time of this writing. You will be able to see how an “AdSense site” that was built with page generating software looks like in real life.
Cost of Starting This AdSense Business?
Web Domains from $7.99 per year
Web Hosting from $4.95 per month
Blog and Ping software from $47.95
Page generating software from $97
RSS software from $97
Article generating software from $97
AdSense Mastery videos $497
Judging by the above prices… You will have to invest a minimum of $751.89 to get started with all the tools you need. I feel only the page generating software and blog and ping software are absolutely necessary. You could add the RSS and articles to your site “by hand” if you take the effort to learn how to do it. You will absolutely need a web domain and web host for your web site. I recommend getting “Reseller Web Hosting” account and purchase additional IP addresses for $1 to $2 extra per month for each of your domains. So if you save on the article and RSS software you only need to fork out about $557.89.
Conclusion
If you find the price too steep to get started then I recommend you do not purchase the videos. Its not something that you can watch and get started with right away. The author assumes you have the tools he is using therefore if you are not willing to purchase those tools the information would be useless.
I believe you can get the same information in the videos by visiting forums and getting free resale rights to video tutorials on similar topics but they won’t be as neatly organized as the AdSense Mastery videos. You will have to get bits and pieces of information from different sources and its up to you to make sense of it and take action.
On the other hand, if you think you can afford to invest in the tools required and this is something you really want to do and you know 100% nothing about blogging and pinging, building web sites, RSS then the AdSense Mastery videos are for you!
