I haven’t been posting lately because of more web hosting hell!
I thought my web hosting hellish period was over but boy was I in for another rude awakening. This blog is currently hosted at Host Gator. I pay $9.95 per month to host and unlimited amount of domains here. It seems like Host Gator can’t really handle my little amount of traffic and they cannot send out enough emails per hour.
Host Gator suspended my site for a while because I was blogging and pinging too much about 1 or 2 weeks ago. Then they disallowed my newsletter script not because I was sending too many emails, because the routine CRON jobs that run every 5 minutes was using too much server resources. Its not like I have 1000s of subscribers so I found that to be ridiculous.
Host Gator was cool for my web sites for a while. Now I realised they must have too many web sites on their servers to provide a basic level of traffic for my blog and affiliate sites. My sites receive very little traffic. They can’t even handle that so I am moving out very soon.
My huge web site OasisFanatic.com is currently hosted on Site5.com. I am very pleased with them even though they want me to get out of their shared hosting plan. I used them for 2 months and I am able to get a refund of my hosting fees because they have 60 day money back guarantee. My site gets over 3000 visitors per day and gobbles up at least 1GB of bandwidth per day. They have a "load balancing" feature on their web host that somehow manages to keep my site up for most of the time. I have been suspended a couple of times but they have been nice to me.
After some research, I realised its better for me in the long run to get a VPS (Virtual Private Server). Its a semi-dedicated server that works like a dedicated server.
I still choose to use 2 web hosts for all my sites. Here’s why….
I need to split my web sites into server intensive sites and the non server intensive sites into 2 web hosts.
I will put all my important web sites and scripts on my VPS web host.
Therefore, I would not have to worry about my important web sites and scripts causing my shared hosting web host to suspend my account due to its high resource usage and losing lots of my time and money in the process. I will also have a peace of mind that my important web sites and scripts will be able to run smoothly. I believe its worth $49 per month I pay for my VPS web host. I don’t want to wake up in the morning with ZERO sales because my lousy web host couldn’t handle my visitors.
I will put all my affiliate sites on my shared multi-domain web host.
I have decided to go with Site5.com because of their good service and performance. They have a good reputation and I trust that my affiliate sites should be able to "live" there without any problems. Since my affiliate sites do not run any scripts directly because they are just HTML files. They will connect with scripts on my VPS web host so the load will not be on the shared web host. It would be hard to get kicked out of a shared hosting plan if you just have a bunch of HTML pages. If I should get kicked out of this web host it would be a cause for celebration because I managed to attract that much traffic to my web sites to make them want to kick me out!
Server Resources VS Bandwidth Limits
I’ve been "kicked out" of 3 web hosts because I have used too much server resources even though I am within their bandwidth limits. For my sites, its has been a maximum of 3000 + visitors per day and 1 GB bandwith usage per day till they want me to get out of their shared web hosting servers. This number might vary from web host to web host so please do not be fooled by the huge numbers in their sales pitches saying we allow "50 GB bandwidth" because from my experience if you hit up to 30 + GB bandwidth, they will start to kick you out of their house.
The good thing about my web sites is that they generate enough money to cover the web hosting fees. I choose to have a peace of mind when I go to bed at night. I can’t stand waking up with an email saying "Your site has been suspended!" anymore!

Check out http://www.metrowebinc.com. He has great web hosting services and you will not have any problems with them interrupting your service. Tell them that Kenneth Elliott sent you…
Vincent,
I never run into any of those problems anymore. I now have a real dedicated server and it’s amazing. I get 300GB bandwidth per month. I have never come close to using that much… even with all my sites that I have there. I only pay $295 per month and my server is always up.
If I ever have any problems, I can call them by phone and they’ll check it out right away.
Anyway, if this is within your budget, I recommend you at least take a look at it.

I hope this helps.
