I just read the latest newsletter issue by Randy Gage…. He is one of my favourite authors on the subject of money because he speaks the truth as he sees it and he isn’t afraid to tell it like it is.
For example, in his latest newsletter he wrote:
As kids, we grow up being profoundly affected by these heroic journey influences we get, and fantasizing about one day becoming the hero ourselves. This could have been wanting to grow up and be tough like John Wayne, save the world like Buck Rogers and Luke Skywalker, or develop superhuman powers like Wonder Woman, Superman, and the Fantastic Four. But of course most of us grew up in a world that didn’t have a lot of job openings for super heroes. And who knew where to buy the cape and tights? So we created the next best thing:
Our own hero’s journey…
By getting an addiction we would have to overcome. By getting in relationships with dysfunctional partners we must break free of. By creating business failures we must surmount. By manifesting illnesses that must be defeated. Or as in my case, all of the above.
You see, the more worthiness issues you have and the lower your self esteem is, the more heroic a journey you need to validate yourself! So you attract another abusive partner, switch to a new addiction, find another cheap boss, or manifest another illness.
Everyone that knows you realizes what a bad string of luck you have had. Everyone tells you that you’re an inspiration. You feel noble, for all the sacrifice you’re doing. There’s only one problem with all this.
Your life sucks.
I’m sure some of the above might apply to your life at one point or another. Personally I do feel like I seem to create "challenges" for myself or in other words "create a mountain to climb for myself" and I believe I do have some "worthiness" issues towards money. I seem to be make myself believe that I need to work very hard for my money! Although my money comes to me much easier now than it was when I was serving in the army, I still have a little side of me that says "You’re going to suffer a lot till you learn to make big bucks…." and things like "Its not going to come easy for you cos you’re a slow learner…".
I purchased Randy Gage’s Prosperity Series ebook some time in 2003 or 2004. I felt rather uncomfortable reading it at first because there was a part where Randy talks about being "selfish". Its kind of opposite of what I’ve been told for as long as I can remember. Randy talks about putting yourself first. I did become more "selfish" by insisting that I make money online to the disappointment of one of my relatives. He said I was being "selfish" for not getting a job and I "should" get one. I must tell you, the last 6 months working at home doing all this has been one of the best times of my life and I am glad I made that "selfish" decision.
I highly recommend you check out some of Randy’s material. But before that I shall leave you with one of his articles "Your Mental Diet".
You are surrounded by a data-sphere of information that promotes negativity, limitation, and lack consciousness. It pummels your senses from all directions. It comes from your TV, radio, the Internet, your friends, family, and the people you work with. Most people are so saturated by lack programming that they can’t even fathom a life of anything but struggle and complaint. What you read, what you listen to, and the people you talk with, have a huge effect on the person you are and the thoughts you have. TV, radio, and the newspaper are all channels of information that create and feed the mass reality of doom and gloom.
This doom and gloom is perpetuated by your government who constantly appeal to the poverty mentality of the masses in order to get re-elected. There is a definite Robin Hood mentality when it comes to taxation that is extremely poverty biased. It is perpetuated by the different forms of media whose ultimate goal is to win your viewership. They pander to your fears and play upon your emotions.
In America, the microcosm for the mass culture can always be found in the entertainment industry. Watch the movies, study the Nielson ratings and check out the New York Times bestseller list. When is the last time you saw a billionaire or multi-millionaire portrayed in a positive light in the media? Think of the coverage provided on Bill Gates, Larry Ellison, Ross Perot, Howard Hughes, or Ted Turner, on down to the millionaire on "Gilligan’s Island."
I actually read a serious Op-Ed piece by Ralph Nader - chastising Bill Gates and other billionaires for not redistributing their money to the poor people of the world!
I used to think Nader was a good guy. Obviously, he has lost his mind. And Gates, like a moron, actually released a statement defending himself. Like the fact that he doesn’t give away all the money he worked so hard to earn, needs to be defended. You must recognize that this data-sphere is continually programming you 24/7, and that almost 95% of it is lack and limitation programming. And it’s not just the media. It’s also your family and friends. And your church and government.
Have you ever heard or used the term "filthy rich?" Have you stopped to consider what it means? As if, somehow, it is dirty to be rich. Heard the expression, "poor as a church mouse?" Heard someone called a "rich bitch?" What kind of programming do you think you’re getting on a subconscious level when you hear things like that?
So what do you do?
Human beings have huge creative potential that is limited by continual inner chatter and the clutter of information fed to you by the data-sphere. It’s easy to focus on things that do not make us happy, do not make us healthy, and do not make us wealthy. What you need to do in order to be successful is to channel that time which you now spend on frivolous activities, into productive activities that bring prosperous results.
If you want to reach the highest levels of success-you have to zealously guard your consciousness as I do. You must control your own programming, and reject the poisonous stuff most people are trying to feed you.
In order to focus on prosperity, it is imperative that you spend more time on your own personal growth. Each morning and each evening before you go to bed, spend time on self-development. Remember you are the foundation from which all your dreams are made reality. Your physical health is but one half of the whole. Your mental health is the other.

Last night I had a long chat with my Dad… Actually he talked 90% of the time without giving me any chance to talk. He talked about how people should just be content with "enough money" and not chase after riches because it makes life very stressful. Even though I disagree with him, I just kept my mouth shut because I can’t change his "paradigm". He doesn’t know of this blog! And if he does, I don’t think he will be very pleased!
He seems to know I want to make a lot of money because I talk about constantly increasing my monthly income and the worst thing about it that displeases him is that I don’t think it is a bad thing at all! I want "more than enough money" because I don’t want to live life struggling all the time with "just enough money". He probably thinks its cool and noble to struggle. I don’t buy that crap and I hope you don’t too!
