Found A “Treasure” In My Grandmother’s House!

Sunday, 22nd February 2004

I apologize for the lack of updates…. I’ve been busy with my army work and other stuff.

This morning I went to a local flea market to check out some bargains and to jot down the prices of some "Transformers" toys. Some of them are pretty hot on ebay.com and I might very well purchase them and sell them online for a nice profit in US dollars!

Let me share with you what my treasure is….

I remember my grandmother had an antique accordion at her place and she wants me to get rid of it. I have thought of the idea of selling it on ebay.com but when she first mentioned it to me last year, I wasn’t really into ebay.com yet! Well today, I actually made some good money from ebay.com selling off some Dolf de Roos CDs I bought last year when he stopped over at Singapore. I got them at a very good price at his seminar.

I actually sold them at a profit on eBay I guess I’m not ready for real estate at the moment but I will be in the near future.

Let’s get down to the details.

Its a HOHNER Arietta IM Accordion. The features: 72-bass, 34 treble, 2/4 reeds (MM) musette tuned, 3 treble switches, 15 ½" keyboard, red pearloid, w/ case & straps, only 13 ¾ lbs.

Don’t ask me what they mean cos I don’t really know! According to The Button Box, its worth a whopping USD $775!

Its still kept in its original box and amazingly its still in good condition after 45 years! That’s twice my age! It still has the original receipt in the box! There is a treasure in my house and I didn’t know about it! It was right under my nose!

I called my friend who is an expert Bassoon player and asked him to check how much an antique like that is worth. I’m really excited about the prospect of selling this beauty on ebay.com! The Killer Mini Sites ebook is going to come in handy when I’m writing my ad on ebay.com!

Till then, have a great week ahead of you!

A little insight into Vincent Rich……

Wednesday, 11th February 2004

Let’s get back to WHY I am writing this blog in the first place:

1) I want to create a place for me speak my mind and express myself through my opinions and blogs / articles about Web Development & Internet Marketing.

2) Provide my readers with an open and honest account of my "online adventures in internet marketing".
From time to time, I will write my very own entries of the internet marketing ventures I am currently involved in. I will share my successes as well as my bloopers! I hope you’ll find them a refreshing change from the rest of the internet marketing hype out there! Most of them only tell one side of the story. I seek the truth and you’ll see that in my work.

3) Create an identity of myself as "RICH". I’ve decided to adopt the middle name "RICH" because I have a surname that reminds myself and others of being broke, dead, unlucky. Let me explain….

My surname is "LIAW". In a chinese dialect, the word is usually associated with death, being "finished", its over, crap, duh! Not exactly very cool surname but hey, its something I can’t change.

Now let’s say I call myself Vincent Rich. Don’t you think that sounds much better than Vincent "finished" / "dead". Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud to be my father’s son and my grandfather’s grandson. Its just the association it gives to my subconscious mind.

With "RICH" as my middle name, I’m constantly reminding myself that I am supposed to be RICH.

4) Last but not least, I would like to experiment with building mini sites and affiliate marketing programs on the internet to earn a healthy living income through the internet.

Vincent Rich Design #1.2…..

Tuesday, 10th February 2004

Not much today. Simply changed the directions of the "waves" at the top and the logo. I made a search on the internet for XHTML and CSS layout tutorials. Its much easier than I thought. Having spent most of my life as a Web Developer using tables for formatting, its quite a shift to use 100% CSS to position the elements of the page.

Now I know exactly how to build the web site. Till then, have a nice day!

Vincent Rich Design #1.1…..

Monday, 9th February 2004

I removed the orange background on the top left and now its all in a cool blue background. Not much time to work on this today. I’m taking it step by step, day by day. I’ve got tonnes of ideas bouncing around in my head I could hardly sleep. Too bad I’m only human. I still need some rest.

The top left corner is reserved for my cartoon, the top right corner will be reserved for my cat Milo. A random cartoon of him with a "text bubble" of some of his random rantings. Hahaha! Just some of my current ideas. I guess I would have to position my cat with layers at that position. I’ll use overlib for the "text bubble".

I’ve never built a web standard comforming web site before. This shall be my 1st attempt to build it with standard XHTML and CSS. I’ll do whatever it takes to remove the tables from the code. Just can’t let myself be too reliant on tables and single pixel gifs for the layout.

Vincent Rich Design #1…..

Sunday, 8th February 2004

I don’t really like the colours of the web site template and I decided to change it. I prefer blue to the green colour. No way am I gonna include that little girl’s picture and that man? I’m gonna replace it with my own picture!

I reserved the top left corner for a cartoon logo of myself. I need to hire a cartoonist. I have already done a seach on elance.com. Found a few cartoonists with a particular style I like. There’s this person who draws like the characters in the "batman" cartoon. I’ll keep my options open.

Milo, my dear cat is gonna be featured on my web site. He’s gonna be a "garfield" kind of character here. Sarcastic, lazy, rude….. I can’t wait to see how he turns out in a cartoon!

Time for some sleep…..

New Blog Template Coming Soon….

Sunday, 8th February 2004

I just purchased a web site template for only USD $29! I’m gonna edit the layout a little and it will be unveiled shorty….

Looking at some web site templates right now

Friday, 6th February 2004

I’m pretty lazy to design anything even though I know how to do it. It will take up too much of my time.

I’m just gonna use this blogger tool for my articles. Its soooo easy to use and customize.

I’m also looking for a cartoon illustrator to create a cartoon of me to use on this web site! Damn! It will be so fun to see the end result.

Cheers!

I’m gonna be a cartoon character

Friday, 6th February 2004

I’ve always wanted to make myself a cartoon character. That will be the theme of this web site. I don’t take myself too seriously and I want to convey that to my visitors.

Vincent-Rich.com would be my personal blog page as well as my "online adventures" in internet marketing. Specifically, how I am going to make a living through the internet. All my successes, mistakes, secrets, lessons I’ve learnt… everything in my trademark non-hype, non-bullshit, no-nonsense style.

I hate it when people give me bullshit. I wanna give people the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I also hate it when people give unclear directions when they present their "system". That’s where I will stand out.

Google Ad Words

Wednesday, 4th February 2004

Hello everyone,

After reading the ebook Google Cash, I’m amazed at the huge potential of Google Ad Words to market your business, product, web site… just about anything!

I’m experimenting with Google Ad Words at the moment. Learning how to leverage the 200 million searches a day tp promote my web sites and affiliates.

Looks pretty exciting!

The birth of Vincent-Rich.com

Tuesday, 3rd February 2004

Hello everyone!

Man I’m pleased to annouce that vincent-rich.com is officially open!

My name is Vincent "Rich" Liaw. This blog is my birthday (02/02/2004) present to myself. I believe I’m gonna have some fun here testing out this cool Blogger tool and some other internet marketing stuff.

The design’s very "spartan" looking now. I’ll improve it when I’m in the mood. I simply used the templates.

That’s all for today…..
